LumiSpa iO Troubleshooting: Common Issues and Fixes
August 4, 2026

Device won't turn on or charge
First, check that the device is correctly seated on the magnetic charger — it should sit flush and connect without needing to be held in place. A loose connection is the most common cause of charging issues.
If it still won't charge, try a different power outlet, and make sure the charging cradle's contacts and the base of the device are clean and dry. If the issue persists after that, reach out to us through the enquiry form and we'll help you troubleshoot further.
The motion feels weak or inconsistent
If the sweeping or pulsing motion feels weaker than usual, check the battery charge first — performance can dip as charge runs low. Also check that the treatment head is attached securely, as a loose head can affect how the motion feels on skin.
Treatment heads are designed to be replaced periodically with regular use. If yours is well past due for replacement, a fresh head often restores the expected feel.
Skin feels irritated or looks different than expected
A small adjustment period is normal for some people as skin adapts to a new cleansing routine. If mild irritation continues beyond the first week or two, try reducing to once daily for a few days before returning to twice-daily use.
If you have an active skin condition, unexplained irritation, recently had a cosmetic treatment, or broken or damaged skin, stop use and seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional. This applies whether the irritation is new or pre-existing.
Cleanser residue or a filmy feeling after rinsing
This is usually a sign of using too much cleanser rather than a device issue — a small, pea-sized amount is generally enough for the full two-minute routine. Rinse the treatment head thoroughly after each use to prevent product buildup.
If a filmy feeling continues even with a small amount of cleanser and thorough rinsing, double-check that the cleanser matches your skin type, since a mismatched formula can sometimes feel different on the skin than expected.
When to contact us
If a problem doesn't resolve using the steps above — particularly anything related to charging, the motor, or a device that seems physically damaged — get in touch through our enquiry form rather than continuing to use it. Returns and satisfaction guarantees are set by Nu Skin and vary by region (US or Australia); see our Shipping & Returns page for how that works.
For anything involving your skin's reaction rather than the device itself, please consult an appropriate healthcare professional rather than waiting to see if it resolves on its own.
Frequently asked questions
My LumiSpa iO won't turn on. What should I check first?

How do I know when to replace the treatment head?
